Why is this important?
A typical organization today will have three to five data systems, each of which extends throughout the company. They might include one system for bookkeeping, another for email, a third for collecting program-specific data, and a content management system (CMS) for managing their web site. If these systems are not integrated, staff are forced to enter data multiple times, the possibility of error is increased, and one part of the organization may miss critical information from another part.
