QuickBase and Homeless Kids

What better reason to streamline paperwork than to have more time to do the hands-on work of helping homeless children. Intuit's QuickBase blog details the work Data Collaborative developer Josh Shortlidge did with Nathan Hutto at Horizons for Homeless Children (HHC). Josh described the eight-week project this way:

"Working with Nathan over a shared screen, we had 17 tables with around 100 relationships between them. Nathan also took full ownership of all the work I did, by being on screen 90% of the time, and soaking up all the "hooks" we implemented to reach his aggressive goals. One of the key technical parts was keeping track of classroom attendance, having many statistical models, and children switching classes, etc. We made an interface that non-technical staffers feel comfortable using on a daily basis. Nathan even hooked up his statistical modeling software via ODBC!"
