Provide Big Tools to a Small Organization

The Taunton River Watershed Campaign was a small environmental coalition with big plans. The Campaign had only one staff person, but they sought to have wider public awareness of the Taunton River and gain a government designation as a Wild and Scenic River. They needed a web site that would allow them to provide information, urge residents to protect the river, and provide an up-to-date calendar of events and news. They also wanted a database system that would help the Taunton River Watershed Alliance, a small membership-based activist group, keep track of supporters, donors, and members.

We set up the Community Enterprise system, donated (because the campaign was a small organization) by CitySoft. CE allows one non-technical staff person to maintain a large, complicated web site with forms, calendars, and a document library. It also allows her to enter detailed information about the campaign's supporters, generate reports, and send out email newsletters. The organization has a dynamic and attractive web site, bringing thousands of people up-to-date information about saving the Taunton river.
